When Knowing What Needs to Change Isn't Enough

You understand the problem. You know what you should think, feel or do differently You may even have tried everything you can think of.

And still, something keeps pulling you back into the same patterns.

Hypnotherapy works differently - helping you address the automatic thoughts, responses and patterns that you aren't always consciously aware of and, so, can't be changed by conscious effort alone.

Not Sure if Hypnotherapy is Right for You? Let's Talk.

Book a free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation to tell me what's going on for you, ask questions, and find out if I can help.

If knowing better were enough, you'd probably have fixed it already.

Most of us know that worrying doesn't prevent bad things from happening.

We know that lying awake thinking I HAVE to sleep isn't particularly helpful.

We know that the voice telling us we're failing, falling behind or incapable isn't necessarily telling us the truth.

But knowing something consciously doesn't always change an automatic response.

That's where hypnotherapy can be useful.

Rather than simply giving you more things to consciously think about, hypnotherapy allows us to work with the automatic thoughts, associations and responses that keep a pattern going.

The aim isn't to make you think positively, pretend everything is fine or take control away from you.

It's to help your brain stop automatically responding in ways that are no longer helping you.

Still Have Questions?

You don't need to know whether hypnotherapy is right for you before you book a consultation.

That's what the consultation is for.

Tell me what's happening. Ask me anything you'd like to know. We'll talk about what you'd like to change and whether I think I can help.

No obligation. No commitment.

Just a conversation.

Sometimes it Might Not Even Look Like a Problem

Anxiety doesn't always stop you functioning.

Sometimes it drives the functioning.

You plan. You prepare. You keep busy. You think ahead. You push yourself to do more.

From the outside, it can look like ambition, responsibility or simply having a lot on your plate.

Underneath, though, there can be a quieter soundtrack:

"What if this goes wrong? What if I'm not doing enough? What if I make the wrong decision? What if I can't cope? What if I'm not good enough? What if it doesn't work out?"

And sometimes the mind goes in the other direction — convincing us that nothing will ever change, we're falling behind, we've failed, it's too late, or there's little to look forward to.

The brain is very good at making things up.

Unfortunately, it doesn't always make up nice things.

And Sometimes You're Simply Exhausted... But Still Not Sleeping

Perhaps you're tired all day, only to become wide awake when your head hits the pillow.

Or maybe falling asleep isn't the problem at all.

You sleep for a few hours, wake at 2am, 3am or 4am... and suddenly your brain has opinions.

About tomorrow. Yesterday. Money. Work. That conversation from six years ago. Whether you'll function tomorrow if you don't fall asleep right now.

Sometimes sleep problems begin with stress, illness or a difficult period in life. Sometimes the original trigger has long since passed, but the pattern remains.

Either way, being exhausted doesn't automatically mean the brain knows how (or when) to switch off.

What Happens on the Free Consultation?

30 minutes.

No obligation.

Tell me what's happening and what you'd like to change.

Ask me anything you'd like to know about hypnotherapy or how I work.

We'll discuss whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for you, what working together would involve, and I'll give you an honest idea of whether I think I can help.

There's no hypnosis during the consultation and no expectation that you book a session afterwards.

It's simply a conversation.

Hi, I'm Emma.

I'm a Wexford-based hypnotherapist, founder of Om Shanti Wellbeing & Fulfilment and founder of the Hypnotherapy Directory of Ireland.

I work with people who want to make a change but have found that understanding the problem — or simply trying harder — hasn't been enough on its own.

My work combines hypnotherapy with training and experience across areas including NLP, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mental health & wellbeing coaching, allowing me to tailor how we work to the person sitting in front of me rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Sessions are available in person in Wexford and online. (And if you're wondering, no, the quality and effectiveness of the hypnotherapy and the work we do together isn't dependent on us being in the same room.)

Hypnotherapy trained to Mastery Level • Higher Diploma in Mental Health & Wellbeing Coaching • Specialist training in Addiction Hypnosis

A Few Things You Might be Wondering...

What does hypnosis actually feel like?

For most people, hypnosis feels surprisingly ordinary. You'll usually feel relaxed and focused, a little like becoming absorbed in a good book or film, while remaining aware of what's happening around you.

There's no special way you're supposed to feel and no need to worry about whether you're "doing it right"; even if you drift off on a tangent, you're doing it right. I'll guide you through the whole process.

Will I still be in control?

Yes. Hypnosis isn't mind control and you don't become unconscious or lose the ability to think for yourself.

You'll remain aware and in control throughout the session. I can't make you do, say or believe anything you don't want to, and your subconscious will never take up a suggestion it believes will put you in danger.

How many sessions will I need?

I don't charge per session or ask every client to commit to a set number of appointments. I look at you, what you're experiencing and your desired alternative, and price that piece of work  as a whole.

You'll know the full cost before we begin, so you're not left wondering how much another session is going to cost.

Most of the issues I work with typically take somewhere between one and three sessions, but everybody is different. We'll assess your progress week by week and continue working together until we've reached a point where you're happy with the outcome.

Again, we can talk through all of this during your free consultation. You can ask as many questions as you need to, and there's no pressure or expectation to book afterwards.

What is it Like to Actually Work With Me?

You don't have to take my word for it:

“I had two sessions with Emma and my goal was to dial down my anxiety and dial up my confidence... when I looked back after two months I recognised the huge progress I’d made including accepting a promotion at work (previously I would have turned it down due to imposter syndrome), finally submitting a study assignment that I’d been putting off for months because I thought it wasn’t good enough, easily making important decisions that I would have otherwise delayed, putting my ideas forward and getting them accepted rather than keeping quiet...

In short I have completely changed for the better and it all happened without me realising it. Emma is fantastic. Her sessions were tailored to my needs and I felt the methods she used were bespoke to me, not just a one size fits all.”

~ Tina Patton

“I came to Emma feeling exhausted and defeated by years of poor sleep. Traditional approaches hadn’t worked, and I was beginning to lose hope. From the very first hypnotherapy session, something shifted. Emma’s calm, intuitive presence made it easy to relax, and the process felt deeply restorative—like my mind was finally being given permission to rest. Through gentle guidance and powerful subconscious work, I began to release the patterns that had kept me stuck. Night by night, my sleep improved. I now fall asleep more easily, stay asleep longer, and wake up feeling genuinely refreshed—something I hadn’t experienced in years. Hypnotherapy with Emma has been life-changing. It’s not just about better sleep—it’s about reclaiming peace, clarity, and trust in my body’s ability to heal.”

~ Michelle Kitchen

“My recent online hypnotherapy session with Emma has had an incredible impact on my life. From the first meeting I felt a deep sense of calm and trust. Emma’s intuitive approach and professional manner made me feel completely at ease, allowing me to fully embrace the hypnotherapy process. I am so grateful to Emma for her guidance and support in helping me to bring about the changes I needed to make in my life. If you are looking for a natural, effective way to create positive changes in your life then I would highly recommend Emma!“
